The private battle of the office applications in the mobile receives a new contediente and not any one. Google has released, for free, Google Docs – Google documents – and Google Sheets – Google Spreadsheets – for editing of text files and spreadsheets in iOS as Android terminals.
Despite the fact that a few months ago, in September 2013, Google, after its acquisition, it offered free QuickOffice, seems that your intention is to the promote your own online Office Tools.
It is why both iOS and Android just launched Google Docs – called in Spain, Google documents – and Google – spreadsheets from Google in Spain – Sheets, two tools to edit text documents and spreadsheets through its service cloud Google Drive.
The tools offer exactly the same features that have the tools through browser, which is not little, both can save documents on the device itself as well as work collaboratively with others if we are editing a file hosted on the Google online service. Available for smartphones, should recognize that it is in the version of tablets is where to look better and are presented as much more useful and comfortable to use.
At the official Google blog see how the Mountain View company hasn’t done this launch in vain since it intends to launch soon the third of the applications that are missing, Slides, allowing us to edit presentations – the known PowerPoints.
Although they are really interesting and, as we have seen, free on the two operating systems the question is are they better than QuickOffice or the famous suite of Microsoft? They are a carbon copy of browser applications, so it is possible to get an idea of their chances and the best thing is that they are backed by Google. However, neither have the amount of Office functions, although this is payment if we want to use it at 100%, nor nor the versatility that, with similar capabilities, offers QuickOffice which allows us to work, for example, with other services like Dropbox cloud.
However, whether among friends or, above all, coworkers using Google Docs to share documents and edit them together, these new apps of Google are essential and will allow us to continue regardless of the site where we are connected.
Do you have an office in your tablet or smartphone application installed? What is? You think these new Google apps a rival to the proposed payment of Microsoft Office? In what place is QuickOffice for Google? Leave us your opinion in the comments and we encourage you to share it also in the forums of MovilZona in its sections of iOS as Android.
